The Next Generation of Pilates Retreats

By PilatesStyle · July 8, 2026

You already know what a great wellness retreat does. You come home moving differently. Sleeping differently. Holding your shoulders differently for weeks. What you may not know is that Pilates retreats, until very recently, weren't built to do this. They were built to be photographed: a Reformer in front of a temple, the Cadillac on a cliff. Beautiful on features, thin lasting benefits. The next generation of Pilates retreats rebalances the equation.

Fossil Ridge is a private property in the Texas Hill Country, roughly 30 minutes from San Antonio and 90 from Austin, a rare combination of substantial acreage and turnkey residential architecture. AMADEHAUS chose to anchor its flagship here rather than build from scratch. The operational rigor traces back to Golden Door, the original American wellness retreat. Every reformer, Cadillac, chair, and barrel on the property is GRATZ.

The format is deliberately immersive at four nights, five days. Twenty guests maximum per cohort join each other across 4 properties built in 2023. The experience is a shared community, closer to the summer camps we all grew up on, rather than a day spa menu. Classical Contrology and Contemporary Pilates integrations form the spine of each day, with group classes and one-on-one sessions, woven with Somatic Experiencing, breathwork, sound baths, meditation, holistic nutrition, and much more. Select faculty-led workshops dive into everything ranging from neuroscience-Physical Therapy, the cultural psychology of food, to social media mastery. Food programming is sourced and prepared primarily from property gardens, in the spirit of the slow-food movement, with multi-course tasting dinners a key feature of each night. F&B partnerships are in development including Chef Chris Sayegh (The Herbal Chef), James Beard-awarded restaurants, and the Culinary Institute of America's Texas: Latin Cuisines Kitchen.

The retreat architecture is built on six programable Cores: Wellness, Adventure, Business, Spirituality, Relationships, and Culture & Culinary. Each Core is then wrapped as Men's, Women's, or Co-Ed depending on who the week is designed for. A GRATZ-equipped barn studio anchors each day. On an Adventure Week retreat, a Treasure Hunt Puzzle with obstacles designed by American Ninja Warrior stunt team challenges your application of control. In a Business Week retreat, guest speakers include Fortune 500 executives and CEOs. Wellness Week features optional sessions of PEMF, HBOT, and hearing from the leaders of the Longevity Movement. Alignment work with AMÂDE names the archetypal plateau a guest came in with, and once named, it releases in a private Breathe & Movement Reflection with Toogie, opening what a group class is not built to hold. The closing bonfire consolidates the experience into something that not only survives the flight home, but lasts for months after.

Retreats sit downstream of Contrology 360°, the digital Pilates & Wellness cohort coaching that Toogie and AMÂDE co-lead: Just two cohorts remaining across 2026. Fossil Ridge Pilates Retreats are the inperson capstone for the most committed community. Readers can engage at the cohort tier first and move toward retreat attendance, or register directly for a Pilates retreat. Both doors open onto the same room.

AMADEHAUS is opening a small bench for Q4 2026 and the 2027 calendar. Practitioners with a socialfirst presence and a named teaching voice, a deep commitment to keeping the legacy of Pilates tangible and adaptive, and curiosity in the science of integrated body systems. No body system functions alone, gets injured alone, recovers alone, or thrives alone. Faculty are named co-creators you've seen on social media, not anonymous staff. Q4 2026 is when Fossil Ridge opens to guests outside the founding circle for the first time. ■
