Eva Bondar
began teaching ballet, tap, and jazz to children at the tender age of eleven. She studied dance professionally at Broadway Dance Center in NYC with Frank Hatchett, Sheila Brown, Finus Jhung, and Madame Darvache. After being certified by AFAA, Eva worked in the fitness industry teaching a wide variety of classes including stretching, low impact aerobics, and prenatal exercise. After moving to Hawaii, Eva centered in on teaching pilates because of its impressive fitness aspect with a dance like feel. She taught at various locations throughout the island of Maui including The Maui Prince Hotel, Kaunoa Senior Center, and Haleakala Waldorf School. She currently teaches workshops at the Maui Community College and The Studio Maui, and ongoing classes for the local community through the County of Maui Community Service Program. Dav Cohen, MSPT
Dav completed a bachelor’s degree at University of Maryland. After graduating, he began a personal training career in Los Angeles. In 1992, Dav apprenticed with Kim Lee, a Pilates instructor from Los Angeles. His work in movement sciences and rehabilitation led him to the University of Miami where he graduated with a master of science in Physical Therapy in 1998. Dav has worked in various settings, including orthopedic physical therapy clinics, fitness centers, health clubs and Pilates studios. He joined Polestar in 1997. After three years abroad, acting as Director of Educator Development for Australia and New Zealand, Dav returned to Denver, Colorado, making Polestar Denver his home base. He has been a principal educator and examiner with Polestar Pilates Education since 1997; he currently serves as Director of Curriculum and Educator Development. Dav continues conducting Polestar Pilates teacher trainings and workshops nationally and internationally. Dav is a member of the Pilates Method Alliance. |
Kathy Corey
Kathy began her career with the Pilates technique in 1979. She is the director of the West Coast Pilates Certification Program in Del Mar, California. Her in-depth study and knowledge of the method gave her the opportunity to sculpt her unique teaching style and develop her world renowned programs.
Kathy’s position as publicity director and feature writer with the Institute for the Pilates Method has included studying with and interviewing the original master teachers who taught with Joseph and Clara Pilates in their New York studio. Their influence is the foundation for the programs she presents today.
Kathy has been an active member and leader in the Pilates community for 25 years and is devoted to maintaining the integrity of the method. She currently travels worldwide—teaching workshops, training and certifying teachers, and giving seminars on the benefits of Pilates for the body, mind and spirit. |
Katherine and Kimberly Corp
The Corps own and operate Manhattan’s largest Pilates studio, Pilates on Fifth. Their diverse blend of experiences – from corporate women to Radio City Rockettes to studio owners – gives them a rare understanding of both active and inactive people’s needs. They are committed to helping “regular people” get more life out of their years through fitness. To train qualified, competent and confident instructors, Katherine and Kimberly formed the Pilates Academy International and have now trained over 150 students in over 4 countries. In January of this year, they signed on to be the National Pilates Program Directors of Crunch Fitness clubs and their CARDIOLATES® workout will be featured on the Martha Stewart Show in July. |
Jennifer McCasland Daly
Jennifer
is a GYROTONICŪ Master Trainer. Piper Denlinger, OPTP
As a former Athletic Trainer and Physical Therapy Assistant, Piper specialized in functional rehabilitation for both athletes and general population. In 1996 she changed careers and became a firefighter for the San Diego Fire Rescue Department. She was selected to be a part of the Peer Fitness Trainer program, where she uses her rehab knowledge and skills to help firefighters with their fitness and rehab goals. The extreme fitness requirements and high injury rates has lead Piper to add significant amounts of core strengthening, body movement, and activity specific training to all her clients programs. Piper’s unique combination of Yoga, Pilates, strength training and power production methods get results for the Firefighter candidates. |
Morten Dithmer/Franklin Method
Master Teacher, Morten Dithmer brings a potent mix of experience from dance, Osteopathy, martial arts and comedy to his teaching. He was born in Denmark and trained as a dancer at the Rotterdam Dance Academy in Holland. He is an instructor in Osteopathic bodywork. He holds a 6th degree black belt and teachers license in Aikido, a martial art. Morten's career in the performing arts spans 25+ years and he regularly entertains as a vaudeville performer, juggles, taps, sings and makes people laugh. Morten is the Director of the Franklin Asia Office and teaches worldwide, including at Juilliard, the Royal Danish ballet, the Hong Kong Modern Dance Academy, and the Yokohama Ballet, to name a few. |
Helen Drusine
Helen Drusine, has been doing Pilates for nearly 50 years. She started working with Carola Trier when she was 14 years old after her doctor told her she had one of the worst backs the doctor had ever seen. Her work with Carola changed her back and, her life. The doctor was so impressed she started going herself. Helen also worked with Kathy Grant and Romana at Carola’s studio and later worked with Joseph Pilates after Romana introduced them. Helen was a classical ballet dancer and 20 years ago started doing structural body work – a form ofnneuromuscular therapy – and has worked with dancers from NYC Ballet, American Ballet Theatre, Alvin Ailey, Joffrey, Martha Graham and Bathsheba. Helen has taught Pilates with Carola, Romana, Peter Vaillancourt and RealPilates in New York. She has also taught in Paris, France and has been invited to do numerous workshops in Israel and Italy. Helen is currently teaching privately in New York City. |

Linda Farrell
Linda Farrell has been teaching Pilates mat for the last 13 years at Equinox and Broadway Dance Center. Her experience and expertise in teaching to diverse groups has culminated in the development of a full LindaFit Pilates Mat Teacher Training Program, including workshops on anatomy, props and mat variations. Peter Fiasca – Classical Pilates Inc.
Peter Fiasca, founder of Classical Pilates Inc., is from Southern California and began the Pilates method during 1988 in New York City. He continued training with 1st generation master Pilates instructor Romana Kryzanowska and was certified by Romana in 1998. Over the years, Peter has continued to study with 1st generation master Pilates teachers Jay Grimes and Kathy Grant, as well as other notable instructors in the field. In addition to producing the well respected award-winning Classical Pilates Technique series of six DVD titles, Peter is a guest Pilates instructor at training centers all around the U.S. and internationally. Peter demonstrated Pilates, and periodically was a guest co-host on QVC cable television from 1997-2002. In 2001 Peter demonstrated a Pilates Mat workout taught by Romana Kryzanowska on her first commercial DVD project. During the 1980s & 1990s Peter earned two masters degrees as well as a Ph.D. degree in psychology, and worked at well respected health centers in New York City and the Philadelphia area until 2001. Since then Peter has devoted his full attention to helping preserve Mr. Pilates' original method of body conditioning. |
Ron Fletcher
Ron began his studies with Joseph and Clara Pilates in 1948 - after sustaining a knee injury while dancing with Martha Graham. Impressed with the effectiveness of the work and the truth of its concept, he continued to study with the Pilates' for two decades - while maintaining a busy career in New York, Europe, Las Vegas and Los Angeles. He choreographed The Ice Capades, NBC television musical shows, Broadway shows and at 20th Century Fox. In 1971, Ron opened the Ron Fletcher Studio for Body Contrology with Clara's blessing and support. His Beverly Hills studio quickly became a fitness mecca for Hollywood stars and performers - and was a major catalyst for public awareness of the value of the Pilates method outside of New York City - and many credit Ron for keeping the method alive. While staying faithful to the method's concepts and origins, Ron Fletcher has continued to carry on and develop the work, introducing his signature Fletcher Towelwork®, Fletcher Floorwork® and Fletcher Percussive Breathing™ technique. He maintains an active international teaching schedule to this day. |

Ellie Herman
Ellie Herman, has taught Pilates for over fifteen years and has developed a unique language to communicate the essence of the Pilates method. Her three studios, Ellie Herman Studios in San Francisco, Oakland and Brooklyn, are dedicated to Pilates-based fitness, rehabilitation, teacher training, and continuing education. Ellie is a former professional dancer and has a MS in Acupuncture. Ellie has authored seven books to date; Pilates for Dummies, Pilates Workbook on the Ball, Pilates Props Workbook, and her professional series on the Pilates equipment: Pilates Reformer, Pilates Springboard, Pilates Cadillac, and Pilates Wunda Chair. Ellie has developed Walk-ilatesSM; a system combining Pilates-based exercise and props to teach proper gait and alignment and to maximize the walking experience. Her Walk-ilatesSM book will be out in 2007 along with a DVD. Phoebe Higgins
Phoebe Higgins, studied and performed with the School of American Ballet, Simonson technique of Jazz Dance, Kevin Wynn Collection, among others. From 1967-68 Phoebe also attended ballet classes taught by Romana Kryzanowska, who also taught at the Pilates Studio. Phoebe was reintroduced to Romana in 1976 at SUNY Purchase and began studying the Pilates Method to help strengthen a spine weakened by scoliosis. In 1980 Phoebe went to work at the Pilates Studio under Romana's guidance. When that studio closed in 1989 she began work with Dr. Howard Sichel in his chiropractic office. That work evolved into Power Pilates. In 1998 and 2005 respectfully, Phoebe was asked by the School of American Ballet and Ballet Academy East to organize a programs for their teenage professionally geared students. The success of these programs is evident in the infrequency of injuries and dancers’ continued strength. 2006, Phoebe left Power Pilates and became a freelancer for both individual sessions and workshops. With the international recognition of the work of Joseph Pilates ever widening, Phoebe would like to see everyone taking sessions and making the world a better place through the freedom of the body. |
Rael Isacowitz, MA
Rael is a 25-year veteran of Pilates and recognized internationally as an expert in the field. He has taught extensively on five continents, sharing a rich background in movement science, dance, athletics, yoga and, of course Pilates. Rael founded Body Arts and Science International (BASI) in 1989, one the most respected comprehensive educational programs in the world. Rael recently released a DVD series as well as an extensive compilation of movement analysis work books on all the Pilates apparatus. Rael continues to practice Pilates at every level, and to integrate the work into his life. |
Kelly Kane
Kelly Kane, has been teaching the work of Joseph Pilates for over ten years. Originally Kelly studied the Method® with Romana Kryzanowska & Hila Paldi and obtained her certification through the Pilates Institute in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Kelly Kane opened The Kane School of Core Integration in New York city in 1999. Elizabeth Larkam
Elizabeth Larkam, a Pilates instructor for 20 years, is internationally recognized as an innovator of mind-body movement techniques for fitness, clinical, entertainment, arts and academic settings. Currently director of Pilates & Beyond for Western Athletic Clubs, she was educated in the original Pilates techniques by the Pilates elders. Elizabeth worked from 1985 to 2000 at the Center for Sports Medicine, Saint Francis Memorial Hospital, in San Francisco, where she developed Pilates protocols for orthopedic and spine diagnoses. She is a Guild-Certified Feldenkrais Practitioner, a certified Gyrotonic and Gyrokinesis Instructor, a certified Franklin Method Instructors and has completed the OM Yoga instructor training. Elizabeth is a spokesperson for the American Council on Exercise. She is also on the Advisory Board of Pilates Style magazine. Michele Larsson
Michele Larsson, founder of Core Dynamics Pilates in Santa Fe, has over 40 years of experience teaching fitness, movement, dance and rehabilitation. She is a former dancer and choreographer who trained at the Julliard School of Music in New York City, and received a B.A. in Holistic Health and Dance Theater from Antioch College in 1981.
Eve Gentry traditionally trained Larsson in Pilates during an intensive apprenticeship in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Larsson then worked with Eve Gentry for nine years prior to the founding of the Institute for the Pilates Method in June 1991 where she served as the Director of Training. Michele then established Core Dynamics Inc. in 1996, a teacher training organization and Santa Fe, NM Pilates studio.
In addition to the teacher training workshops, Michele offers continuing education and advanced workshops around the globe. Over the years Michele has taken workshops from other master teachers, including Carola Trier, Bruce King, Kathleen Stanford-Grant and Ron Fletcher.
She continues to travel internationally providing workshops and seminars on special topics, traditional Pilates and the Eve Gentry technique. Michele maintains a diverse local clientele at the Santa Fe studio teaching athletes, post injury/special needs individuals and other Pilates teachers. |
Barbara Ligeti
Barbara Ligeti, As a writer/producer/director in film, TV and theatre, Barbara currently specializes in "wellness media" and material addressing the human condition and well being. This Fall Gaiam will release Ligeti's FIVE STEPS TO TAKE OFF TEN YEARS with Oz Garcia, celebrity Nutritionist. Other videos currently in release include ROMANA ON PILATES, THE LEGACY EDITION, featured in issues of Pilates Style Magazine. Ligeti is working on a series created by Mary Bowen including Pilates and Psyche. Lisa Love, Ed.M., R.M.T
Lisa Love has an advance Master of Education in Motor Learning from the Department of Movement Sciences and Education, Teachers College, Columbia University. She did additional graduate studies in biomechanics and clinical kinesiology at New York University and has a B.S. in Biology. Ms. Love has been teaching for 20 years, maintaining a private practice in movement reeducation and motor learning using exercises based on the teachings of Joseph Pilates. She trained in the Pilates technique with Robert Fitzgerald, Carola Trier, Fran Lehen and Jean-Claude West in NYC. She also studied kinesthetic anatomy, biomechanics and other applied movement analyses with Irene Dowd. |
Billy Macagnone (Owner)

Tom McCook
Tom McCook, founder and director of Center of Balance, is a nationally-recognized fitness and movement specialist. Beginning his full-time career in personal training in 1984, Tom designs programs for health and life performance for working professionals, people rehabilitating from injuries, and world class athletes, including Olympic Gold Medal swimmers Natalie Coughlin, Jenny Thompson and Misty Hyman. Peter Roel
Peter Roel, co-owner of Pilates Shop Yoga Garage opened his company in 2001 with his wife, Maxine Roel. Prior to opening his company, Peter was co-director and teacher trainer at Power Pilates for two years as well as having had a highly successful dance career for 20 years. He was a principal dancer with, among others, The Elisa Monte and Martha Graham Dance Companies. Peter has been practicing Pilates since 1984 with Kathleen Stanford Grant and was certified by Romana Kryzanowska in 1994. |
Kathryn Ross-Nash
Kathryn Ross-Nash, has been involved with the Pilates method since 1984. Kathryn has had a Studio (American Body Tech, Inc) in Allendale, New Jersey, for 14 years. A teacher for the Romana's Pilates Certification Program, Kathryn is also a featured Artist in the Romana's Pilates Video Series as well as the new Heritage Collection. She has worked with many of the great and first generation teachers in the method and has devoted her work to the preservation of the original method. Formerly a principal dancer for Ballet Hispanico in New York City, Kathryn also holds a Second Degree Black Belt in the martial arts, an AFTA certification, a CQC certification, a SAVE certification and Pilates certifications from the Pilates Studio as well as from Romana's Pilates. Lolita San Miguel
First Generation Teacher of the Pilates Method, born in New York studied at the School of American Ballet and graduated from the Performing Arts High School and was for 10 years a soloist with the Metropolitan Opera Ballet. In 1958 she trained and was certified by Carola Trier and is especially proud of being one of two people in the world certified by Joseph H. Pilates. She is also certified by Polestar Pilates Education, Inc. Nora St. John
Nora St. John, has been a Pilates instructor since 1989. She received her initial training at St. Francis Memorial Hospital's Dancemedicine division, where she worked primarily with dancers and clients with sports-related orthopedic injuries. She is certified in Pilates through Michele Larsson of Core Dynamics and deepened her understanding of Pilates with master teachers Eve Gentry, Kathy Grant, Carola Trier, Romana Kryzanowska, Alan Herdman, Marie-Jose Blom-Lawrence and Karen Clippinger. Jonathan Urla
An international presenter and teacher, Jonathan Urla has been an innovative force in the world of fitness for over 20 years. His book, Yogilates®–Integrating Yoga and Pilates for Complete Fitness, Strength and Flexibility, was published by HarperCollins in 2002. He has also produced and appeared in six Pilates and yoga workout videos. A continuing education provider for the Pilates Method Alliance and the American Council on Exercise, Jonathan presents regularly for national and international Pilates, fitness and yoga organizations. Jonathan is PMA certified.

Kathy Van Patten
Kathy Van Patten, is the owner and founder of the award-winning BodyWorks Studios located in Boston, MA, a Power Pilates Affiliate Training Center. While practicing and teaching Pilates and GYROTONIC® for 15 years, Kathy has had the privilege to work with hundreds of clients, each with different goals and starting points. Her client-focused approach has earned praise from clients and peers, who voted her 'Best Pilates Studio' and 'Best Pilates Instructor' in Boston Magazine. Kathy's approach to Pilates is grounded in the best current practice of Pilates and she is certified through five different programs: The Pilates Method of Body Conditioning (Romana Kryzanowska), Power Pilates®, Stott Pilates®, Polestar®, and The Method-Pilates®. Kathy is a GYROTONIC® Master Trainer, has a B.S. in Education from New York University, is an adjunct faculty member of The Boston Conservatory Dance Department, and has been teaching and studying dance for over 40 years. Currently, Kathy is a certified Senior Level Teacher Trainer for Power Pilates® and travels nationwide teaching their programs. |
Mari Winsor
Nearly 20 years ago, Mari Winsor began developing her innovative workout based on the groundbreaking work introduced by Joseph H. Pilates in the 1920s. In 1990, she opened her first Pilates studio in Los Angeles. Mari has brought Pilates to new levels of public recognition through her work with musicians, celebrities and professional athletes, as well as her widely recognized series of DVDs. The long-time professional dancer and teacher now owns and operates two Pilates studios in the Los Angeles area. More than half of Mari’s clients are A-list celebrities, making her one of the most sought-after trainers in showbiz. |
