Presenter Bios

Brent Anderson, PhD, PT, OCS
A licensed Physical Therapist and Orthopedic Certified Specialist for more than 13 years, Brent Anderson is a leading authority in performing arts medicine and Pilates-evolved techniques for rehabilitation. He lectures widely at national and international symposia and consults with professional dance companies, schools and conservatories throughout the world. In addition, he owns and operates two of the nation’s most comprehensive Pilates conditioning and physical therapy centers. These highly successful studios have become the model for many other Pilates studios worldwide. Brent received his degree in physical therapy at University of California, San Francisco in 1989, and is currently adjunct faculty at the University of Miami, Division of Physical Therapy. His doctoral thesis explored the impact of Pilates rehabilitation on chronic low back pain using psycho-emotional wellness and quality-of-life measures. Brent is a 15-year member of the American Physical Therapy Association, for which he formerly served as President of its Performing Arts Special Interest Group. He is also a longtime member of the International Association of Dance Medicine and Science.
Leslee Bender, (BA, ACSM, NASM, AFAA, ACE, PHYSICAL MIND, TOMAHAWK GERMANY, HOT IRON, PRECISION CYCLING)
Leslee is the founder and president of The Pilates Coach International, LLC. With over 25 years of international fitness experience, Leslee has presented throughout the world providing unique and progressive methods in all forms of fitness training. Leslee and the team of The Pilates Coach master trainers are bringing Pilates training into fitness programming for health clubs and studios throughout the world.
Pino Carbone
Born in Italy, a former ballet dancer, internationally recognized inventor – dance/yoga and Gyrotonic master teacher with more than 20 years of experiences in the manual and movement therapy. He is also the founder of Artform, a leader company manufacturing original equipments for wellness, dance and physiotherapy and BodyCode System, a kinetic discipline aimed at decoding and correcting individual movement pattern. Mr. Carbone runs 2 studios in Florence, Italy, DanzForum and Club Il Vortice, both are international centres of BodyCode System and Gyrotonic.
Kristi Cooper White
Kristi has 15 years experience teaching the Pilates method and has been dedicated to the Body Arts and Science International™ (BASI) approach since 1997. Kristi has worked closely with Master teacher Rael Isacowitz both in his studio as a teacher, and as one of two principle instructors of the Body Arts and Science International™ teacher training certification. Her passion for teaching has allowed her to teach in South Africa, China and Australia and both coasts of the USA. Kristi has a Pilates practice in Santa Barbara where she splits her time working at The Beach Club Athletics and working privately in the homes of her clients. Kristi is proud to have a client base that includes many fellow Pilates instructors and other high profile clients such as Oprah Winfrey, Dennis Miller and Rob Lowe. In February 2005, Kristi reached a high point in her career when she was featured in a segment on the Oprah Winfrey show that highlighted some of the benefits Oprah achieved since she had been doing Pilates with Kristi. Kristi may also be seen in the Rael Pilates DVD series available for home use.
Kathy Corey
Kathy began her career with the Pilates technique in 1979. She is the director of the West Coast Pilates Certification Program in Del Mar, California. Her in-depth study and knowledge of the method gave her the opportunity to sculpt her unique teaching style and develop her world renowned programs.
Kathy’s position as publicity director and feature writer with the Institute for the Pilates Method has included studying with and interviewing the original master teachers who taught with Joseph and Clara Pilates in their New York studio. Their influence is the foundation for the programs she presents today.
Kathy has been an active member and leader in the Pilates community for 25 years and is devoted to maintaining the integrity of the method. She currently travels worldwide—teaching workshops, training and certifying teachers, and giving seminars on the benefits of Pilates for the body, mind and spirit.
Dana Eisenstein
Dave grew up in sunny South Florida with a passion to perform. She graduated with a BFA from the Conservatory of Dance at Purchase College and lived her passion as a professional dancer with the Kevin Wynn Collection in New York City for over seven years. Due to her own dance-related injuries, Dana began studying Pilates. As a result of the tremendous success she had in dealing with her own body, Dana began her Pilates certification training which was completed in 1998. She teaches workshops and classes internationally and has integrated Pilates into some of the finest facilities and spas around the world. She has been featured in numerous videos, DVDs, and publications and has appeared on the Today Show and ESPN, among others. She plays an integral role in developing Power Pilates continuing education program; she is also certified as a Senior level Teacher Trainer and program director for all of Power Pilates® Certification Programs.
Katrina Foe
Katrina began her training in modern dance and physical therapy at TCU and quickly found her passion for Pilates. She is fully certified through the PhysicalMind Institute, STOTT PILATES® , Pilates for Golf, PMA Gold, ACE and AFAA. She is currently the owner of Personalized Pilates in Scottsdale, Arizona where she conducts Pilates teacher trainings through the PhysicalMind Institute, teaches Anatomy in Clay? and is a Master Trainer for Bosu.
Colleen Glenn , Peak Pilates® Senior Development Director and Master Trainer
Both Master Trainer and Senior Development Director for Peak Pilates®, Colleen Glenn has been a pioneer in Pilates teaching and instructor training for the past 20 years. She is renowned for combining philosophies of Pilates and movement with traditional fitness venues. Colleen designed the first Pilates mat teacher training program for health clubs and gyms and hosted training sessions at clubs nationwide and internationally. Prior to joining Peak Pilates® Colleen developed the PilateSystem Teacher Training program, a comprehensive instructor certification. She has been featured in magazines, books, exercise videos and television. Vogue magazine called Glenn “One of America’s top 55 trainers.” She is listed in the National Registry of Who’s Who for her professional accomplishments. A sought-after lecturer and educator, Colleen co-founded the Pilates Method Alliance, a nonprofit organization setting standards in education and providing public resources. Colleen’s experience, intuition and passion continue to inspire all audiences.
Rebecca Leone
Rebecca owns and teaches at Pilates Powerhouse NW in Seattle. She is classically trained and has built on her primary Pilates, Inc. education with a certification from the University of Washington in Sports Medicine and Human Performance as well as several courses and workshops with First and noted Second Generation teachers. Rebecca is Pilates Method Alliance Gold Certified. She is an active public speaker and national Pilates educator and has presented at Pilates Method Alliance educational conferences and Ice Skating Institute and U.S. Figure Skating Association national conferences. She also produced Pilates on Ice, an instructional mat DVD for skaters.
Bob Murphy
Bob is our “man from the other side”, having used MindBody as an studio owner for five years. He has watched and contributed to our program from its infancy to the current ASP version. Bob brings with him successful entrepreneurial skills, having created a real estate company, and an online commercial real estate database company that became the second largest online data provider, and subsequently sold during the dot com era.
Rebecca "Boo" Pfeiffer, JD, MPH
Innovator of the internationally acclaimed Poolates® method, is a graduate of both the George Washington University Schools of Law and Health Sciences. Before becoming a certified Pilates instructor and certified personal trainer, she served as a health policy specialist in the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, focusing on state initiatives and senior issues. Founder and owner of Pfeiffer Fitness, LLC, Boo has developed a comprehensive multi-level, ACE-approved Poolates instructor education program. She presents Poolates instructor education courses and workshops, lectures on a variety of wellness topics, consults for equipment manufacturers, and has been featured on television programs and in numerous trade and consumer publications. Recently named by Self Magazine as one of the top 6 trainers in the U.S., Boo will travel with Pilates on Tour as a member of the Balanced Body University in 2006. Based in Miami, she trains an elite international clientele, on land and in the water, ranging from professional athletes to senior citizens.
ShellyShelly Power
Shelly Power is a Principal Educator for Polestar Pilates Education. A professional dancer, Shelly received her BS degree in Dance from California State University, Sacramento, where she later served on the faculty. Shelly has taught Polestar curriculum since 1998 and currently teaches internationally for Polestar Pilates Education. Shelly is co-founder of the leading Pilates-evolved rehabilitation and physical therapy studio, Polestar Pilates Center, in Miami,. Currently Shelly is pursuing certification in the Gyrotonic Expansion System and is a Franklin-Method® Educator Level 1. She has been a member of International Association for Dance Medicine & Science (IADMS) since 1996, and is a member of the Pilates Method Alliance.
Sonia Rodriguez , Peak Pilates® International Master Trainer
Sonia is a Peak Pilates International Master Trainer, teaching courses in the United States, Mexico, South America, and Europe. She is an AFAA Certified Personal Trainer and AFAA Certified Group Fitness Instructor and Texas State Registered Massage Therapist. She is the Vice-President and Director of a private fitness club, Personal Trainers of El Paso. In 2004, the El Paso Times named her one of the “Top 50 Most Successful Entrepreneurs Under 40 Years of Age” in El Paso. In 1993, Sonia received her Bachelors of Science from Texas Woman’s University. She majored in Political Science and earned a minor in dance. She graduated Magna Cum Laude and received many honors. She also earned a Masters in Business Administration at the University of Phoenix, in 2001.
Christine Romani-Ruby
Christine is a rarity in the Pilates world—an experienced Pilates professional with a strong background in physical therapy and fitness. She is a frequent presenter at international fitness and rehabilitation conferences such as NATA, IHRSA, Club Industry, IDEA World, Filex and Can Fit. Christine is a licensed physical therapist, an assistant professor in the Physical Therapy department at California University of Pennsylvania, an AFAA certification specialist, an ACE faculty member, a certified athletic trainer and a certified instructor of the Method. An international presenter, Christine is the CEO of PowerHouse Pilates, a corporation that trains and certifies fitness and rehabilitation professionals in Pilates and operates two successful sites
in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She is the co-author of The Pilates Reformer Manual, The Pilates Mat Manual, and the costar of eight Pilates videos. She has written for and has been interviewed for articles in IDEA Health and Fitness Source, PT News Line, PT Advance for Directors, Self Magazine, Club Business International and many others. Presently she is pursuing a doctorate in education at Indiana University of PA.
Lolita San Miguel
First Generation Teacher of the Pilates Method, born in New York studied at the School of American Ballet and graduated from the Performing Arts High School and was for 10 years a soloist with the Metropolitan Opera Ballet. In 1958 she trained and was certified by Carola Trier and is especially proud of being one of two people in the world certified by Joseph H. Pilates. She is also certified by Polestar Pilates Education, Inc. Ms San Miguel founded and directed, Ballet Concierto de Puerto Rico, a renowned ballet company and is also the Founder and Director of Pilates y Más. A popular international presenter, she is the author of a series of DVD’s, titled “Lolita Shares her Pilates”: Mat I, Reformer I, Reformer II and Lolita’s Pilates BodyWalk.
Mary Schroeder
Teaching our YBR® classes, Mary is a Licensed Massage Therapist and Yoga Instructor who has practiced yoga and the healing arts since 1988. She is a senior practitioner of Yamuna Body Logic and Yamuna Body Rolling® (YBR®). Mary teaches YBR® certification intensives in Costa Rica and has on-going YBR® classes in Hollywood, FL.
Michelle Schwahn
Michelle is a licensed Physical Therapist and is the co-owner of LIFE Rehab Services, Inc. in Wayzata, MN. She is also the owner of Freedom Fitness, LLC, a health and fitness consulting company. Michelle is an ACE and AFAA certified Fitness Instructor and a NASM certified Personal Trainer. She is also a Strength Training Specialist certified by IWA and holds Pilates certifications with Physical Mind Institute and the Professional Health & Fitness Institute (ProHealth).
Michael Fritzke and Ton Voogt
Michael and Ton are the co-owners of ZENIRGY, LLC. They are devoted to promoting the art of the Pilates Method and raising awareness of its inherent benefits. They are international presenters and have presented at numerous conventions, seminars, workshops, master classes and continuing education for certified Instructors and Pilates enthusiast. Together they co-created the revolutionary TRIADBALL™, two DVD lines and set up several independently run Pilates Certification Programs in Europe. They have also collaborated with a wide range of physical therapists to integrate the Pilates method into patient-based therapy programs. Michael and Ton have written and consulted on articles for many magazines and have been seen on numerous television programs.
Mari Winsor
Nearly 20 years ago, Mari Winsor began developing her innovative workout based on the groundbreaking work introduced by Joseph H. Pilates in the 1920s. In 1990, she opened her first Pilates studio in Los Angeles. Mari has brought Pilates to new levels of public recognition through her work with musicians, celebrities and professional athletes, as well as her widely recognized series of DVDs. The long-time professional dancer and teacher now owns and operates two Pilates studios in the Los Angeles area. More than half of Mari’s clients are A-list celebrities, making her one of the most sought-after trainers in showbiz.
